Electronic Discovery

Electronic discovery, otherwise referred to as eDiscovery or computer investigation, is the process of searching electronically stored information (ESI) for data relating to a particular case or investigation. This data may then be exchanged between parties in a civil or criminal investigation, or passed to forensic examiners for further examination.

Employing the very latest practices in eDiscovery, our investigators are able to retrieve information from a vast range of electronic devices and media types, ensuring that no stone is left unturned in assisting you with your search.

In addition, we are able to advise organisations in achieving readiness for eDiscovery through best practice. A business whose infrastructure has been designed with eDiscovery in mind could save considerable costs should the need arise.

Computer & Mobile Forensics

Encompassing computer forensics and mobile phone forensics, digital forensics is the practice of examining any electronic device or data source for evidence in connection with an investigation.

From employee investigations to criminal proceedings, our team employs the same industry standard tools and techniques in all cases.

Digital forensics is becoming increasingly important as criminals rely more heavily on technology to operate their global networks and the use of counter-forensics measures means that we must constantly revise and improve our techniques in order to stay ahead.

Forensic Data Recovery

Operating in accordance with the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) guidelines, our forensic data recovery techniques enable data to be obtained from damaged or failed devices that would otherwise be inaccessible. This means that even data on severely damaged devices, such as a laptop that has been submerged in water or burned in a fire, can often be retrieved and submitted as evidence.

Strict chain of custody protocols and extensive logging ensure that data is secure at all times, and detailed case notes are maintained to support the evidence when presented to decision makers or in Court.

Cell Site Analysis

Using data from mobile network operators, cell site analysis can establish the position of a mobile device to within a few metres. This data can then be used in evidence, for example to validate an alibi by proving that someone was where they claimed to be at a given time.

Due to the requirements under the Data Protection Act in relation to the release of such data, this kind of investigation is invariably conducted on behalf of, or in collaboration with, law enforcement agencies.
